This Costa Rica Adventure Tour takes advantage of Costa Rica's spectacular nature and runs from highest mountains in Costa Rica to sea level and the sparkling Pacific Ocean, through paramo, cloud forest and rain forest to the warm sea. Some travelers like to get out and experience Costa Rica’s nature with gusto; this trip is for those who like the outdoors, mountain and forest hiking, white water rafting and snorkeling. Go ahead, push yourself a bit, a do so engulfed in Costa Rica’s precious nature, while being led by one of Costa Rica’s finest guides, and then recharging each night in top quality ecolodges. Costa Rica Adventure Sports South visits the country’s second highest peak, Cerro de la Muerte in the beautiful Talamanca Mountain Range for hiking to the summit and other Talamanca hikes to waterfalls, always within view of highland nature. Lower down the western slope the hiking get’s hotter in the rain forest of the Rafiki Safari Lodge, before cooling off with white-water rafting on the Savegre River. The icing on this Costa Rica multi-sports adventure cake is navigation of the Sierpe River to the Pacific Coast to Drake Bay for a glorious day of boating and snorkeling in a warm Pacific filled with dolphins and a hike in the Caño Island Biological Reserve. Costa Rica Multi-sport Adventure Tour Itinerary

DAY 01: SAN JOSÉ
Airport greeting by bilingual guide and private transport for transfer to the Hotel Grano de Oro in San José.
|DAY 02: TALAMANCA MOUNTAIN RANGE – SAVEGRE MOUNTAIN LODGE
Breakfast at hotel and private transfer with your guide south up into the highest mountain range in Costa Rica and one of its finest mountain lodges at Savegre. Afternoon hike to a nearby waterfall in cloud forest filled with the Resplendent Quetzal. Lodging at the Savegre Mountain Lodge.
DAY 03: CERRO DE LA MUERTE
Breakfast at hotel and morning transfer with your guide to Cerro de la Muerte, Costa Rica’s second highest peak (11,322 feet above sea level) for guided hiking to the summit. Cerro de la Muerte has virgin cloud forest which is home to a number of rare species, with nearly half of them endemic to the area. Higher up on the mountain is a dwarf forest and then paramo above the tree line. Return to Savegre Mountain Lodge.
DAY 04: RAFIKI SAFARI LODGE
Breakfast at hotel and private transfer with guide to rain forest lodge and nature reserve at the Rafiki Safari Lodge on the Savegre River. Afternoon hiking in the private 842 acre rain forest reserve of the Rafiki Safari Lodge.
DAY 05: SAVERGE RIVER RAFTING – SIERPE RIVER - DRAKE BAY
Breakfast at hotel and hike up river for an exhilarating descent on class III+ and class IV rapids in this white-water rafting adventure on the upper Savegre River. Our private transportation waiting for you at the end of the river descent and the journey continues overland to the Sierpe River for boat navigation to Drake Bay and the Aguila de Osa Lodge.
DAY 06: DRAKE BAY – CAÑO ISLAND
Breakfast at hotel and motorboat excursion in Drake Bay to Caño Island with an excellent chance to see multiple species of dolphins and harder to see, but also present, are various species of whales (Aug-March best). Hike in the biological reserve of Caño Island and snorkeling its black volcanic rock reef. Return in motorboat to Aguila de Osa.
DAY 07: DRAKE BAY – SAN JOSÉ
Breakfast at hotel and return overland with private transfer and guide to San José for lodging at Grano de Oro or domestic flight to San José with transfer to hotel upon arrival. Note that flights are often delayed or cancelled during green season (May-Nov) so we would prefer to schedule overland return during those months.
DAY 08: SAN JOSÉ
Breakfast and private transfer to airport for flight home.
